William Buchholz, Professor and Chairman Emeritus of the Department of Information Design and Corporate Communication External link.(IDCC, 2001-2011) at Bentley University External link., WJB.received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois External link., Urbana. In over 30 years at Bentley, Bill has taught expository writing, effective speaking (undergraduate and graduate), managerial communication (undergraduate and graduate), business communication research, World Wide Web communication, administrative report writing, introduction to business communication, public relations theory, public relations writing, technical writing and editing, content development, and information architecture (undergraduate and graduate).

In addition, he served as the Business Communication Internship Coordinator from 1979-1987, and as Director of the Undergraduate and Graduate Business Communication Programs, 1988-1995. In 1993, he co-chaired the Department of English External link.; and from 1995-2000, he served as chairman of the Department of English

Bill's major teaching and research interests include the World Wide Web, information design, information architecture, interface design, knowledge management, ontologies, and content management. Knowledge Management: Concepts, Methodologies, Tools, and Applications.He is currently researching the various applications of ontologies (especially the Web Ontology Language External link. (OWL), XML External link. (DTDs , Schema External link., XSLT External link., XHTML External link., HTML5 External link., CSS External link., DHTML External link., CSS External link., and metadata schemas such as RDF External link. (Semantic Web External link.) and the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative External link.).

Active in communication training and consulting for business and industryCommunication Training and Consulting in Business, Industry, and Government (Urbana, IL: the Association for Business Communication , University of Illinois, 1983). both nationally and in the greater Boston area since 1977,Bill is a speech writer, editor, seminar leader, writer, manuscript reviewer, computer software/manual evaluator, Internet/intranet consultant, textbook reviewer, and managerial communication consultant.

Bill has published business communication cases, reviews, and articles on consulting, composition, business communication, and ontology in The Journal of Business Communication , College Composition and Communication , The Phi Delta Kappan , The Bulletin of the American Business Communication Association (now The Business Communication Quarterly ), The Business Communication Quarterly.The Journal of Business and Technical Communication , The IEEE Transactions on Professional Communication , and the Encyclopedia of Knowledge Management .
