IDCC 380 Attendance

Bentley has a no-cut policy. We expect you to attend every single class. Attendance is especially important in classes like this one where every class meeting is devoted to some technological concern and where you will be working ultimately in teams.

If you have to miss a class, here's what we'll do to be fair. We'll drop your final grade up to one increment for the second absence. So if you end up with a 3.3, two absences can take your final grade from 3.3 to 3.0, etc. You miss three or more times, you automatically fail the course.

If you can't make it to class for some really good reason, let me know, and give me an official excuse. To be official, your excuse has to be in writing, signed by a doctor, chaplain, counselor, or some other significant college official.

One other thing. Class begins promptly. You should try, therefore, to arrive five or ten minutes early, to boot up and get ready for the evening. If you are late, you may miss a pop quiz; that will cost you grade points.

Remember: you need to adopt a professional, respectful, and responsible attitude toward your classmates. Skipping school and arriving late for class — because they are unprofessional, disrespectful, and irresponsible behaviors — will have serious penalties attached to them.

It might be useful to recall that in the work world, when your team or project leader calls a meeting, you have to be there, and on time. When your supervisor calls a staff meeting, the same is true. This class is your opportunity to practice those good behaviors. Every class is a project meeting. As a member of the team, you are responsible to attend all meetings.
