What Is Business Communication?

As businesses realize that communication is central to their success, they are hiring professional communicators in record numbers. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment in business communication is expected to grow nearly 25% between 1998 and 2008.

Business communicators shape technical and financial information. They manage their organization’s image and reputation, use communication to overcome a crisis, expand abroad, bring a new product to market or explain the interactions of software and other products.

Bentley’s business communication program is writing-intensive. It offers three tracks which prepare you to become:

• Information designers (technical communicators)
• Public relations specialists
• Web developers

Who Teaches Our Courses?

Bentley's business communication faculty members have one foot in the academic world and one in the business world. More than anything, they are dedicated teachers.

Our courses are taught by a diverse faculty with Ph.D.s from top colleges and universities: Harvard University, Oxford University, University of Illinois, University of Maryland, University of Michigan, and Georgia State University. They have consulted with many of the Fortune 500 corporations, too, including AT&T, Bose, Compaq, Dupont, Easter Seals, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Microsoft,  UPS, and government agencies. Many members of our faculty have received awards for their teaching, advising, and research.
